Man Utd players at the World Cup.

United have quite a few international stars on the verge of qualifying for next years footballing extravaganza, with Park already qualified with South Korea, Anderson with Brazil, Van Der Sar contemplating returning for Holland, Serbia and England on the verge with a couple of games to go, Vidic, Tosic, possibly Ljajic and our English contingent are most likely to make the trip to South Africa. They could be joined by France, Northern Ireland, Scotland and one of Bulgaria and the Republic of Ireland, with the latter in pole position for the play off place, while Portugal have 3 games to turn results around to get back into contention.

All going well, United could have Park, Anderson, Van der Sar, Vidic, Tosic, Foster, Ferdinand, Rooney, Carrick, Brown, Owen, Hargreaves, (Gibson and O'Shea or Berbatov), Fletcher, Evans and Nani all playing competitive football in the off season. Youngsters like Rafael, Fabio, Ljajic, Welbeck, and Macheda, however unlikely, might be selected to represent their countries just as Sven selected Walcott 4 years ago.

With so many of our squad vying for International selection, I do wonder if the players might have their minds on their summer sojourn instead of league and cup games. Would players be more warry about challenging for 50-50 balls where they might get hurt? Will Rooney stop terrorising defenders in case he gets struck down by the curse of the metatarsal?
Does it mean that this season's title challenge is going to be half hearted and uncommitted?
I sincerely hope not, as many of the faithful consider United> England, and would expect the same from their highly paid heroes.
